In 1962,BTV was founded as a small workshop in which 3 people worked making mailboxes. This idea originally came from its current president, Mr Jesús Villaverde, who at that time could see that the installation of mailboxes facilitated and expedited the task of delivering correspondence. Its products soon began to become essential.

BTV took the lead and got ahead of its competitors thanks to its wide range of products, its fast service and the expansion of its sales network established in each city. The sustained growth experienced since the 1970s in the hardware and construction markets helped to secure BTV leading position in the Spanish mailbox market.

BTV adopted a policy of product diversification that would eventually lead to its success in a new market: safes. Consolidation as one of the most important manufacturers of safes in Spain, as well as the installation of a research laboratory and its own electronic production, were the main objectives attained in the second half of this decade. The use of new materials and effort made to provide its safes with functionality and design had paid off. Thanks to its specialisation in mid-range and high-end safes, BTV began working for the hotel industry and developed a comprehensive offer of specific safes selection, in addition to minibars and other accessories for rooms, bathrooms and common areas. Today, there are more than 500.000 BTV safes installed in hotels around the world.

BTV faces an important challenge: its international expansion. Its growing presence in European and American markets led BTV to build its current manufacturing plant in Zaragoza, with an area of 18,000 m², where the company consequently moved in 1995. Its facilities included a fully automated powder coating factory, as well as the most modern technology for sheet metal treatment. In 1996 BTV was established in Guadalajara (Mexico). In 2002 this headquarters was moved to Cancun, where its SSR (Safe Security Rent) subsidiary built its facilities dedicated to storage and after-sales service for the hotel market in the Mexican Republic. BTV continued its expansion by establishing itself in China in 1998 and investing heavily in its own manufacturing plant in Hangzhou: BTV CHINA. This way, its customers in Asia could obtain the same products as well as get the same quality and faster service in their own language. In 2006 this factory was moved to Jiaxing, only 90 km from Shanghai, and since then the logistics centre of BTV in Asia has been established there.

In the new millennium, BTV has been optimising and modernising its manufacturing methods and has been consequently awarded various quality certifications such as the  ISO 9001 standard and the  ISO 14001 Environmental Certificate, approved for the first time in 1999 and 2010 respectively and successfully passed all subsequent checks related to their renewal.

In 2007, BTV was awarded the  Pilot Award for Logistics Excellence  for SMEs, by the Aragonese Institute for Development of the Government of Aragon. This recognition acted as an incentive to continue improving its line and method of working.

Today BTV continues taking steps towards improving its customer engagement policy as well as ensuring constant communication flow. To do this, various actions are being taken such as increasing its presence in social networks, expanding its network of technical assistance centres, both in Spain and beyond our borders, or guaranteeing the continuity of its subsidiaries and distributors in the main tourist areas worldwide.

In 2012the 50th anniversary of the company was celebrated and four years later, in 2016, the production areas were completely renovated by introducing the most modern machinery and improving process control.

During 2017 and 2018 the Aragon Institute of Development awarded BTV the Corporate Social Responsibility Seal meant to single out all socially responsible companies in Aragon. The company was also recognised as one of the 500 leading CEPYME companies in growth in Spain.

In 2018 the new BTV offices were inaugurated in La Puebla de Alfindén, Zaragoza, where it keeps growing always with an eye toward the future. At the end of the same year, a new headquarters is opened in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
